It has become very fashionable to tut and shake one’s head at the mention of the word ‘judges’ in Ireland over the past few years. They are, it is suggested, a divided, over protected and selfish elite who refuse to ‘take the pain’ and do not understand what is happening in the (paradoxically mythical) “real world”.
